The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop 41-46 Windshield Frame Lower Corners

I am in the middle of taking my 41 ton and a half windshield frame apart for some minor repairs at the bottom and repaint. After getting the glass out, I noticed in the lower outside corners of the glass groove the bottom of the groove appeared to be gone in the outside lower corners.
Is that supposed to be that way or is it missing because it has rusted out that part of the window groove? Both sides look the same.

It's been several years but I don't recall any type of weep holes in those lower corners. Also check the edges carefully as they tend to swell and split from rust. There are after market frames available. I don't think the holes would hurt anything as long as the frame is still solid. I installed my glass with urethane glass setting compound. I did not fill the channel I set the glass on spacers on one side then caulked the frame from the other side. Let it cure then flipped over the frame and removed the spacers and repeated the process. Not oem but will seal the water out.

After looking again....it is rust that has come through.

Mine has about a 2" hole on one corner rusted through. Just in the slot where the weather seal goes. The rest of the frame is in good shape.I was thinking about taping the outside and pouring some epoxy into the frame just to reinforce that corner. Then remove the tape and sand before epoxy primer.
