I tell you what though, while sanding it down, I noticed that the dash and stuff was really chalky looking. I guess it's just old  Getting it ready for primer.. still waiting on my sandblaster to come in so I can sandblast the frame/body pieces.. stayed tuned for pics!

Just keep banging at it and youll see results! Take it a step at a time and dont look at the big picture and youll be fine. Nothing better that finishing 1 step then going on to the next and crossing it off. I've got the same year truck and I'm just getting started too. You're already ahead of me, which is good because I can follow your progress. I do not have the space (or sandblaster) so I'm doing it piece by piece at the local Polytech. (Signed up for the autobody restoration course)I may finish the tailgate by summer at this rate. I've got less surface rust than you, but I'm discovering dents and dings under a previous fast fix tape and paint job. I have to replace door bottoms next.
Good luck with the truck. The family history makes it that much sweeter. I'll keep checking on you. If I get around to posting pix of mine I'll let ya know. Misery loves company. | | |
