I have been searching for another Stovebolt to put in my garage and I ran into an ad selling a pile of 1954 Chevy truck body parts and one of the pictures shows a door with the "Old Navy" painted on it....it got me to thinking how many of them were saved and did any of them get back on the road again...
I saw what I think was an old one at the Corning Glass Museum in Corning New York...and then I saw this ad for the body parts...
Just wondering out loud...

Benny actually got to take his pick out of about 6 that were on a transport. He got lucky....no running gear but the metal happen to be about as good as it gets. He paid 1500 for his but many were bought and put on Ebay for much more. Denny put an engine in it and did a few mods to it and drove it. I'm not sure if he still has it as I moved about the time he got it running and haven't seen him in a long time.
EDIT: Hambone, I just read you link and I posted there. It may not have been quite "15" years!!

It has a plate attached to the dash with the Navy id information. It was sold at auction many years ago in Southern Ca. A interesting bit of history he has. Are there any Navy vets out there that might remember it? He could not find out what ship it was on. I know of a 53 Chev panel in Alberta that came from the RCN

There was a clothing chain called Old Navy that had a pieced together AD truck in each of their stores. These are being referred to here. | | |
