I ran across a statement in the Brothers Truck Parts catalog and it said that their disc brake conversion kit (booster under the cab, rotors, calipers, etc.) does not work on manual transmission trucks...
Anyone ever run into that? We have a manual trans truck and would like to install a front power disc brake conversion, and hopefully under the cab just to keep the engine bay clean.

It's best to tell what model you are referring to. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 47 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 47 | Whoops, my fault.
This is in regards to the '52 we're working with.

With your manual, the clutch pedal would likely "be in the way" of the brake boaster and you would have to heavily modify the clutch pedal to make it work with the booster. I haven't done this install but am curious as I may be doing it down the road in my 1/2 ton as well. | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | I installed the POL kit in my '54 with 3 speed manual and OD with no fitment problems. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 321 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 321 | I had a 1953 Chevy 1 ton truck with a stock 4 speed in it looking at top view from the bottom this is a CPP kit.. No problem...but that is down the road for me. 😉 | | | | | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 2,232 Moderator: Interiors, Texas Bolters, Name that Part | | Moderator: Interiors, Texas Bolters, Name that Part Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 2,232 | I have a cpp kit as well with minimal issues | | | | | Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 916 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 916 | Has anyone gone disc and used a manual master cyl setup? Where in Nor Cal are you? There is a great brake supply company in Santa Rosa. It's 2 brothers who inherited their dad's business.
No matter if I go in looking for restoration brake parts, street rod brake parts, daily driver brake parts or even a replacement axle and brakes for my travel trailer they either have or get what I need.
Regarding your unboosted disc question, my '32 Ford roadster street rod has that setup using GM "metric" calipers and Aspen/Volare rotors mounted on a Ford beam axle. Braking was lousy with the "organic" friction that is out there now. The local brake guys got me some asbestos pads and shoes and it was like adding a booster, no exaggeration. The pedal effort is kind of high with no booster but I don't mind that.

I also used residual valves for both the disc front and the shoe rear. I didn't plan on running 4 wheel discs, but the rear end I am using is fitted with them so that's how it's going to be. I was figuring that I would need a 7/8" master to keep pedal pressures in a comfortable range...

I was figuring that I would need a 7/8" master to keep pedal pressures in a comfortable range... I have a good firm pedal but not so much I have to stand on it. I'm used to driving a non power brake car, my Mustang is also. I used a 1 inch so I would have a little more volume of fluid being pushed to the brakes. It also shortens the stroke of the pedal.
