Greetings! I got new windlace for my 53 chevy 3600.The ancient windlace in it is original and it hardened to stone. Chipping it off the metal is easy enough ...but does anybody know of any tricks or short cuts to easily get it out of the channel?

No. There are none. You will be using some creative sentence enhancers with this task. Keep the "sentence enhancer jar" handy.

Soak it some with Kerosene.

I just got my hose tool/pick and peeled it out of there. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can still pull big sections out.

Excuse my ignorance. What is windlace?

Windlace goes around the door opening in the cab (supposedly keeping the wind/rain out). Installing the windlace is always more fun that removing it (even if the old windlace has fossilized).

There are two styles of windlace/attachment on A-D trucks: 47-mid49 and mid49-55.

Thank you and trust I'm appreciative of your input and advice. Any thoughts about prying the channel open a bit to help? I think I saw a post explaining a little prying helps facilitate installation of new windlace.

Thanks. The "windlace" on my truck has deteriorated to the point it looks like lace. It is on my list of things to do. I have had new doors rubber for 8 months and have not had the chance to install it. I hope to get it on this winter.
