So I'm new to the classic American stuff, tons of experience with German cars of all different generations and makes.
Anyhow, I ended up with a 1948 GMC 3100.
I am trying to decide on a decent, budget rear suspension setup? These two seem like good options...

Hoping to get some opinions on either of these two routes, or other good ideas. I'd like to keep the drop at 3", 4" max.
Here's a quick rundown on my plans for the truck...
Keeping in straight axle front with a 3" Nostalgia Sid's drop axle. It will have discs in the front. I have a mildly built SBC 350 already installed. The truck came with a Olds Rear end out of a Rocket 88.
Thanks in advance for the advice and opinions.

Super happy with the install and fitment. I have a '48 with the factory under bed fuel tank which conflicts with the four link, so I'm switching over to a Mustang tank behind the axle.

Laguna Seca, Buttonwillow, maybe make it as far as COA. Just waiting on the Recaro's and Bilstien coilovers now. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,889 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,889 | Back in the 1960's a SCCA team I worked with had a 55 Chevy 1st. Series pit truck with a Ferrari V12 and a Colloti 5 speed in it. It was a lot of fun to cruise main street a day or two before a race in it and pick on the local hotrodders. Jerry

This truck I've got was originally hotrodded in the early 60's. Rode hard, put away wet, and stored for 30+ years. Some really cool parts on the truck, and some really odd fabrication used.
Now I'm having a blast bringing it back to some form of its prior glory. | | |
