I brought home my 1950 GMC COE from Kansas to mate the cab and pedestal to a 1973 p30 frame that has a rebuilt 454 th400. I am hoping to leave the cab and cab pedestal stock height. 1973 is the first year that GM had the hydroboost and it is frame mounted. I hope to relocate it to the cab pedestal in the old location.
My search for information on mounting the pedestal to the p30 has come up dry. it looks like the front cab mount perches need to go where the p30 IFS is. what have you guys done? also will the cab floor clear a stack 454 on a p30 or do I have to move it back and down? any help and pictures would be awesome! | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy falcon6574, welcome, I believe you would get more/better response to your question if you posted it in the High Perf forum, good luck with your project. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 126 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 126 | Hi, I have my 1939 Chev cab on a 1980 P30 frame, "step van-bread truck frame" My hydro-boost was on the firewall, & it fits perfectly on my 1939 firewall. You should have plenty room on your 1950 cab. If you can find one, that should fix your problem.
You will want everything down to the swinging brake peddle.

Not sure what you mean. If you get everything from the booster to the peddle, it's all there & it all mounts to your firewall. Everything else is Hydraulic brake tubing. My 1980 frame has front dis brakes, 73 may have drum brakes? If you can find a GM step-van of the 80s, check out there brake system.
I just checked my photo album, I don't have a photo of the booster mounted. I hate this new computer, I have more photos some-were but I can't find them.
It mounts to the firewall with a rod that goes through the firewall to the swinging peddle. The peddle swings off brackets under the dash. You will see that it all comes together. If the swinging paddle is not the length for you, you can lengthen or shorten that.
