The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Panels 'N Burbs 53 Suburban Side Window Trim **

Any of you Suburban guy's ever had to mfg. the side window outside trim/molding/garnish using the outside trim from a door?? During disassembly of my 53 discovered the R/H rear window outside trim is trash. Have had no luck finding a replacement. Not real sure what my options are. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Really interested in this too. I'm in the same boat.

I swear I saw a pic where it seemed they used rubber in place of the metal trim but who knows.

** Rubber trim is a thought ** If I do not find a replacement for my bad one I may have to start looking in that direction. My other 3 windows outside trim is nearly perfect and kind of hate the thought of not being able to re-use them. Time will tell.

My RH inside window trim has rust holes in it. I had it powdercoated with the rest anyway. One day, I'll find a decent replacement.

The trim, both outer and inner, show up now and again online. Sometimes here in the "For Sale" forum, other times on Facebook, etc. In fact, there is a specific group (or two) on Facebook just for 47-54 Suburbans and Panels.

How about buying the reproduction door trims that are available
And carefully hand forming the rear section of the rearmost side glass to fit.
It looks to me that other than that rearmost section the dimensions would be the same.

You'd have to buy two per side it looks like.

** Have not attempted that yet and was the intent of my orig. question asking if anyone had attempted that procedure and what kind of success they had. Looks like it could be done with a little finesse. **
