I have done the searches but still want some advice before I spend some money. I am going with the T5 transmission. I found a Blazer 4x4 with a T5. Will this transmission work or is it a different tailshaft? NEXT question he isn't sure of the year of the truck, but it is fuel injected so I'm thinking 88, which makes it electronic speedometer, what are the options with this if I want to keep my original gauge? LAst, this Blazer differential I think would be perfect for replacing the original differential. THANKS for any help!

I have a 235 engine and a t-5 tranny with electronic setup...(checkout cablespeedometer.com they have the conversion for the electronic trannys) with a s-10 rear from a 4x4 s-10 blazer...I used a 77 olds cutlass driveshaft that I had cut down to fit, i have no problems with my 46 1/2 ton

The 4X4 T5 has a different tail housing.

If you want a bench seat AND a working cable driven speedometer . . . . . .
you need either
. . . a 1988 or earlier S10 T5. These S10 T5s are hard to find and very desirable because they have a cable speedometer connection.
Or you can install
. . . a 1989-1993 S10 T5 with a VSS speedo output. Then buy a conversion device to make your cable speedometer work. The only 2 sources I know of are Dakota Digital ECD-100 and Cable-X.

Make sure you match the T5 5th gear to your rear differential gear or it may be a waste of time and money.

Make sure the T5 case has a bolt pattern that matches your bell. The S10 cases were made with a Muncie pattern 1993 and earlier. The S10 case changed to a FORD pattern in 1994.

I wrote a page on my BLOG to help people considering a T5. LINK HERE
