Trying to get hinge pins and hinge springs but nobody up here has them. I can get them from the States but the cheapest shipping is $25. For 4 pins and 2 springs!
Any suggestions?

Try KMS Tools. They deal with LMC Truck and other suppliers. They will bring the parts in and you can pick them up at your local store. (or they will mail them to you for extra $)

I bought some trunnions from them. Took about a month to get here.

Thanks. I tried. All they sell are hinges, no pins or springs. I would think that these pins are not vehicle specific and a good machine shop could remove the old and redrill/replace with a generic pin. I tried one shop in Victoria but they couldn't do it unless I had a pin number!

the pins aren't vehicle specific, any auto parts store will have a range of pins [HELP rack] - any spring would have to be faked, that likely is specific to the AD hinge

That's odd. They don't normally sell trunnions, but I gave them the LMC part number and they ordered them for me. He told me that they can get in anything LMC has.

You can try Chevs of the 40's. They understand the cross border hassles we have to deal with and will send them USPS. I bought some small stuff from them recently and the shipping and handling was reasonable. Arrived in the mailbox without any additional charges.

The first thing a shop does is look in a online catalog so they need year, make, model of vehicle. Even though the part # is the same for many years and models, the catalog won't let you proceed without the info.

I will try LMC. Chevs of the 40s, Brothers Trucks and the truck shop in Orange CA all quote the same shipping.

Found the LMC catalog much easier to search. Here is what I found out. Parts $30.85, UPS Ground $26.99, Duties $14.55 for a grand total of $73.39. UPS is all they use and I won't go near it or Fed Ex and duties? Old vehicle parts.

For local, there was that parts place off the trans canada / hutchinson rd in cobble hill (name is escaping me, but he used to stock lots of older chev stuff)Also could luck out on someone having some NOS, or leftover I would check with Ed Petillion(Island chapter of the American truck historical society)

B&M Parts in Cobble Hill? I think he has gone all Ford now. Didn't know Tin Man was still around. Is he a wrecking yard or an after market parts supplier?
