My water pump just went out on me after I got my truck running. I got a rebuild kit on ebay and have gotten everything pulled apart and ready for cleaning. I'm looking through my service manual and it says to use "glass cement" to attach the pump seal to the impeller.
Does anyone know what a modern alternative to glass cement is? or should I pick up some epoxy made for glass? I might be over thinking it, but would like to do it right if I can.
Thanks!

It would interesting to hear from a "pro" regarding these being used on (or, in your cooling system) with your rebuilt pump? | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,747 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,747 | So if I read the Sodium silicate properties correctly(an issue that continues). You are supposed to put a "water soluble" "glue" around the seal in a water pump? Color me dim but why?

I started pouring coolant in after getting all of the hoses clamped and after about 2 gallons it started leaking from under the water pump. It seems to be coming from the weep hole at the bottom, but I followed the installation service manual closely...
any ideas? I didn't forget any parts and everything fit together as it should with proper clearances. Does the seal just need to be broken in?
