Ok, I have looked at many post and using the 67-72 --Napa and rockauto show same part # ---- I used these hookups to get the headlights, taillights-parking lights, interior dome light, dash with adjustments to work with key off.

Tell me where I went wrong but I tested using a meter then hooked them up and tested on the 46 truck.

Post number:

1 --- 12 volt battery
2 --- dash lights
3/4 ---taillights, front parking lights
5 --- 12V battery and dome hot wire (orange)
6 --- headlight to dim/bright switch
7 --- not used

Dome ground on dome ground lug --front right -top

Grounded switch frame.

If I used 12 battery only to #1, switch only yielded voltage on post 6 and 7.

What is wrong and what is the question? Since you are mixing 41-46 with 67-72, I will speak generically.

On another site you said it's all working but does not match. SO if it's working you are done. It was stated that in the years of 67-72 there are some wiring differences. So you have a switch that may be different than the switch used for the explanation on the web. If everything is fused and working, no problem. Don't sweat it.

Generic GM Headlight switch wiring from the web.
0- WHT- Dome light ground
1- RED- battery feed 12V unfused
2- GRY or DKGRN- Dash lights
3- Not used
4- BRN- Running light/Parking lights/side marker/license
5- ORN- Park light power, 12V fused (some info says Dome power, 12V fused)
6- YEL or LTBLU- Dimmer switch feed
7- VIO- probably not used

It does not matter if colors don't match as long as the function matches.

I added info after you posted. Glad it's working. From what I now see, you do have it correct per GM standard. Terminals 3 and 4 are bused together with a copper strip.
