Just thought I'd start this thread so we can get all the feedback in one place. Picture links, too.

Here's the link in our Bolt Bucket -- mostly pictures from Tim Pryor so far.

thumbs_up

Thanks,
Peg

Just stepped in the room to give a short report.
The gang is gathering out side for some after hours socializing.
Fed 44 people dinner tonight and somebody said there we 48 people in the group photo.
May be our biggest turn out yet.
Everyone must have heard Rusty Rod was going to be there.
Out of 76 t-shirts, we only have about a dozen left and hope to sell a few of those tomorrow.
After the show, I'll start a thread on who wants a T-shirt.
More reports and pictures to come later.

Tim sent in some more pictures during the night, including a group photo. The yellow shirts looks great. The people look great. The truck looks great (need to hear more about that!).

Here's the group shot. Just click above it and you can see them all.

Made El Reno, Ok about 4pm. Popped a trailer tire about 6 miles from home but managed to limp on in. Kathy and I had a great time meeting the "gang" including Rusty Rod. The GMC V12 demo was absolutely awesome. The ground shook and it wasn't a earthquake. Brake line seminar was great. 200+ trucks in one place, what could be better?

I made it about 2 hrs ago mostly uneventful. But i did figure out why my trip times where extra long, the speedometer changed program and was 10 percent off, when i was reading 65 it was really 59. so my travel time was extended by that much. you would not think that little change would make a difference, on a 10 hr drive it added another hr to the trip at least. I had a great time and glad to put faces to some names that i didn't know.

Well, congrats. That's awesome. Don called and said he had some very outstanding pictures. I think once he gets home, gets some rest, he'll get them loaded so we can all see.

He said he took pictures of each person in front of their truck. Impressive ... great idea.

Sounds like all went well. Thank you everyone for helping Don out. It is very much a community effort. Remember, we ain't no club and we don't have any officers! grin

Great time and we made it in safely.
Mom was with me and can't keep from telling everyone she see about it.

Don, I know you were talking about a separate extra tee shirt thread but to get in early, if you have an extra XXL I will take it. If not an XXL but you have an XL I will take that as well.

Just got home and thought I would check in.
Brian, We have 9 shirts left and I'm sure we don't have a XXL.
May have a XL. PM me and I'll check tomorrow, if we do, you can come and get it when you check out your new hunting ground.

Please bear with me as I am going by memory.
We tied for club participation award with 15 trucks signed up.
They go by the registration cards and everyone that registers, needs to say they are with the Stovevbolt gang.
We are recognised as a club.
The award did not have a trophy, but a Hundred dollar bill. I handed it back to Galine to be our donation to the charity. She said it would be helping the kids by the end of the week.
Besides Wayne67vert winning two trophies,
Lightholdersdad (Kent) and Lightholder (Scott) also won two.
Our soon to be member Bob Horner and his family joined us with the V-12, and won the loud exhaust competition.

Winners, please post on what category and place that you have won.
So, if I am right, five trophies and a big donation from our club participation award is our take this weekend.

One other note, when they were asking who came the farthest, someone yelled out "does Australia count"
Mongo said, they didn't bring a truck and don't count.

A lot of pictures were taken mostly of our activities and members.
Give us a few days and they will be edited and linked somewhere.

Tomorrow, I'll list the names on our sign in sheet and they should let us know, when they make it home.

Tired of typing
Don

Rusty Rod got home in 1 piece... barely.

On top of the smoked bearing on the way, I had a flat tire about
halfway back AND broke a stud off that hub... grrr. hit a huge traffic jam going into Denver.

Ran over a bush in my driveway... Mrs Rod is mad again... but at least it was a sticker bush.. not a nice one either.

http://s160.photobucket.com/user/st...y%2008/sat_0014.jpg.html?sort=2&o=34 I still use this all the time... from 2008.

I also started a rumor that I had the 2nd best looking Binder at the show... of course, I only saw one other.

The weather was fabulous and the show was spectacular as usual. I have to say that the Econo Lodge was even better than I remember.

We had a great time visiting with everyone, and it was nice to finally meet some long time members that were in attendance for their first Stovebolt Reunion.

Anyway our drive home was trouble free and we rolled into Omaha around 1:30 this afternoon.

Big thanks to Don, Vickie, Mike, Pat and everyone else that helped make this event happen.

Oh yeah, the guy that took the group photo wasn't half bad either. wink

Terry (27Capitol) took some impressive pictures, and took some time to sort and crop (which is appreciated). Gloria got on-line last night and loaded them into the Bolt Bucket.

So come take a look. John got to see some last night as they were uploading. We'll put as many captions as we can (I'll start another thread for that.) I tried to sort these but for some reason the custom sort option is not available (just yet). I'll try again later. Great people shots in the beginning; great truck shots mid-way.

We got a call mid-day yesterday from Don as they were doing the trophies, etc. It did sound like it was a highly successful event. Don still sounded excited about it all and it was contagious!

Don hopes to get some feedback but I'm sure he'll start another thread.

Good job everyone. Thanks for making the trek. One of the best comments I heard about the event was that "everyone is so nice" ... you all ARE!!! thumbs_up

Good drive home, drove 1100 miles straight through. It sure was a good show again, finally found those elusive Fulton brackets I've been looking for. (Mongo had them) I sure liked Kent & Scott's COE. George checked over my carb on Saturday, he said it looked fine. Yes that big 702 was a beast, very impressive! Good to see so many people again.

I am not going to tell what per night i paid because it was a mistake on someones part but i checked out at 3:30 am and for the third year the computer would only let them charge me for 2 nights not 3 even when i pointed it out to her and she said the computer would not let her. A little addendum, i got 19 mpg even with all the missteps in the directions i took. not to bad.

Don, as I posted way up top, we made it in about 4pm with only a blown trailer tire to slow us down. I'm amazed that you can even remember your own name with so much being thrown at you at once. Great job by all and of course the host club for getting everything ready.

Yea Martin, I would mixed up names name a few times including my wife's.
If I'm around my sister, I'll call her Vicki sometimes and when I'm talking Vicki after seeing my sister, I'll call her Betty sometimes.
I don't know if you caught it or not, but a few times during the meeting, I started to say Betty instead of Vicki.
A weekend like that helps keep the mind rolling.

Thanks

Stranger and "Da Boys" Back home safe.

Trip there smooth and uneventful. Coming back had a bit of a heart stopper..... Topped a hill running 70 m.p.h. and about 150 ft. ahead ALL TRAFFIC STOPPED! (No patrol slowing anyone down.) 2 cars and a semi behind us. I yelled at Joe (The Driver) "BRAKES"!!! He did, and when we stopped and the smoke settled, we was cock eyed on the highway with about 5 ft. to spare! The 2 cars behind us went to either side of us and the semi repeated what we did. After we all caught our breath we proceeded with traffic and a bit over a mile we saw a old refurbished (?) School bus sitting half on and half off the highway with the front drivers side wheel missing. (That must a been a ride in its self.)

We stopped at the next rest area, regained our composer, said a prayer, checked over the pull truck, trailer, and tie downs on Maters Cousin. All good !!! The rest of the trip went well!!!

Oh, The weekend, reunion, show was FANTASTIC!!!!

Home safe now but spent most of today in Hays locating U-Haul & trailer to pull the old green truck back to the house. Think we blew a head gasket on first day of the trip home. (Embarrassed to have Ford U-Haul pulling the proud Chevy home in the daylight.) Many thanks to Don and Vicki and everyone for all the hard work and the great weekend. Looking forward to next year. We are slowly making our way home.
Visited the Mother ship of quilting 'Missouri Star Quilt Co.' in Hamilton, MO.
Then to Sam Clemens home in Hannibal, MO. We even looked for Col. Potter but not to be found.
Tonight in Montgomery, AL. Visit family in Welborn, FL tomorrow and will be home on Thursday.

Wayne67vert I think ended up with that long distance award, Don.

Mongo & Company are back home and I'm back in the swing of slinging truck parts.

Had a little trouble friday night at the Cruise with my new 46 Rig "Ralph" we had a little flat Since Ralph wears custom offset rears we pulled the fender and ended up running him back to the show on a 19.5 "Spacesaver" Spare I had at the shop. Even with the donut spare on we still used him Saturday to pull two stuck Duallys out of the mud in the spectator parking lot.

My good friend Tony Todd (TTOD here on the bolt) finally got to attend the Stovebolt reunion. I met Tony and some of his cohorts years ago via the Stovebolt and have become great friends with them all. Tony and our buddy Roy Built Ralph. They also built my winch truck "Sam" and they brought the Stovebolts favorite doodlebug "Jr" back to life. Looked like Tony had a great time at the show and with all the Stovebolters even though I was running around as usual.

The Show was a great success we'll be adding up the numbers, paying the bills and getting everything squared away over the next week but we will be able to help the charities a lot this year. We were made aware of a critical need one of them had saturday and we will be working to help them out with that hopefully by the end of the week.

Thanks to all the Stovebolters that were able to make it and help make our show a success, I know I don't get the time I'd like to spend with the crew at Stovebolt Central but I'm always there in spirit and am so happy we're able to provide the venue for the group to get together in real life in this part of the country.

Thank you to all the guys who were able to come out to the yard thursday and check it out. And I was happy to be able to fulfil some parts needs in the process.
It's always fun running in a pack and leading the convoy to Aldersons in Ralph was a hoot.
Thanks to the Aldersons for opening up their truck home for us all and I gotta say I dig the new setup in the truck barn.

Lightholder and I made it back to Prescott with the COE last night, with no problems whatsoever. Went a slightly different way through Kansas just to see some different country. Saw a herd of old 2 ton farm trucks before Dodge City, in a field. Mostly Chevys, with two Fords and a Federal. Had a beer at the Long Branch Saloon in Dodge City (my Mother's maiden name was Earp; Wyatt Earp's grandfather is my great great great grandfather, so it was appropriate).

We're home yesterday around noon.
Drove 3000 miles, went through 11 states.
No problems except getting out of gas stations when someone always wants to talk old trucks smile

One of the downsides in owning an old chevvy is you have to fuel them up and sometimes you are in a hurry

Wayne67vert... I had a different problem getting out of a couple of gas stations....

The pumps were too close to the buildings... and I had a solid inch of clearance between the rear of my trailer and the protective posts.. but I managed.

George Wrenchbender Ret. Home. Great show

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
