Just wanted to pass along how I repaired my leaking lever shocks with a $5.00 seal.
disassemble lever/arm from body, used acetylene torch to heat up the cam lever (Part that pushes on the piston) (not red hot) but really hot and then with a ball joint tool drive between body and arm and it should come apart you will probably damage the old cap that held in the old seal in place.I didn't reuse anyway, take note of the position of the arm and cam lever for reassembly
next I had a machine shop machine (milling machine) out the tapered part in the body that the old seal sat in to accept the new seal, found a mom and pop shop labor wasn't to bad 4 shocks $120.00 labor and seals
before reassembly for ease of pushing the cam shaft back through the new seal there is a sharp edge on it where the spline part transitions to round I used a die grinder with a sanding disc to just break that edge then I took some 320 grit sand paper to polish/clean up the shaft and then applied a light oil for lube.
in order to compensate for the space that the cap that held the old seal in place, I turned a 1/4" wide x 1 5/8" dia. spacer/washer to put on the shaft before assembly I also used a thin O ring to put on the side of washer that was against the new seal to keep the new seal in place, eye ball everything up before assembly just to make sure your happy with the fit
clean everything up and reassemble and paint I used silicone gasket stuff for the cap or you could make a new paper gasket sorry I didn't take any picture's of the process, got this idea after I had them done and surprised myself it worked but if anybody need's any clarification don't hesitate to ask
Hercules seal part # u12-087-25 7/8" ID x 1 1/8" OD x 1/4"
