Hi all
I just picked up a complete 10 bolt rear end with disc brakes. I also got the front discs, spindles, A arms, sway bar, rack and pinon, axel, an some other front end stuff. It all came off a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 with a V8. Is there anything I should look out for swapping this stuff out? Has anyone done this with the newer parts? I see a lot of people swap rears with trucks in their 70's. I don't see a lot of Information for what I'm doing. Any advise/tips out there? He asked if I wanted to buy the frame too but with the extended cab that thing was limousine long.
Thanks!

After spending several hours taking apart the control arms, tie rods, etc from my '65, and a few hours of internet searching, found that I have 73-87 control arms and spindles. The more I dig into this truck, the more things I find aren't original. Since the last owner before me didn't know much about the truck, it's hard to know what all they used. My advise would be to keep a list of donor parts you upgrade to or add along the way in case the next guy or family member knows what parts they'll have to look for if they need to replace any. As for the newer parts on the truck, I have had no problems with the steering or the ride, other than needing new ball joints, tie rods, etc.

Good advise if I were to be selling it. I will not be but I have kept a running log of everything AND all the original items I have removed. That being said. Have you done a disc conversion? Anything to watch out for?

I was lucky enough that it had all been converted before I bought it. But that leaves me with not having the experience of doing it myself and learning how to do it. Mine has 73-87 spindles, break system upgrade, etc. Maybe some of the others on here can be of more help with converting.
