So after cleaning out entire fuel system due to debris, had to get gas. Almost at station oil pressure dropped to zero (has been rock solid 30 to 35 psi) and heard a sound like a loose gear as we shut it down right away.
Haven't yet dropped to pan to check, but think its just the oil pump????
Will be pulling motor, but had hoped to wait few more months before doing that.

Before you drop the pan, just check to see that the distributor has not backed out enough to disengage from the oil pump drive.
After that, remove the distributor and turn the oil pump shaft with a screwdriver. If it doesn't turn, turns but "lumpy", spins free with no resistance, obviously bad pump.
If it seems to turn normally, spin it with an electric drill and see if you get pressure.

Check the bottom of the distributor shaft to see if the flat drive tang for the oil pump has sheared off. With the noises, it's more likely an internal failure in the pump. Getting the oil pan off might be a challenge. On the smaller trucks, supporting the frame on jack stands and letting the axle hang down gives a few inches more pan clearance- - - -not sure if that will be necessary on a big rig.

Another possibility is that the oil pickup screen has come adrift and the crankshaft is hitting it.
