I'm in the process of putting an R10 overdrive in DoughBoy (55 Grumman). I got a complete transmission (62 truck), but after disassembly and inspection, the cluster gear is a concern. So, I just pulled the SM318 from DB, which looks good.
Everything is ready to be reassembled, with a rebuild kit to arrive tomorrow. With the help of all of the information on this site, and the help of a good friend, I think I have everything I need.
Except for one thing. Is there some kind of special bolt that goes on the OD lever on the transmission? It's the one the end of the OD cable gets attached to in order to put IN and OUT of OD.

I couldn't find the answer so I ended up taking a large pin with a head on it that had holes drilled in the sides of it and tapping it. Then I used some washes and put two jam nuts on the end. It worked, but I'd rather have it the way it's supposed to be. I ordered 5 of them, just in case. Follow up: The bushings didn't work out. Too much play in it. So, I just fabricated one from a brass reducer, which I should have done it the first place. Works just fine.

Dave's pic shows a brass one. DB is not completely "original", as you know. But I usually try to keep them that way if I can.
