The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop rechroming the grill frame.

I'm new to the 36 chevy truck world, but I want to rechrome the frame around the grill, guess the whole cowl has to be removed to do this..and was the windsheild frame ever chromed..or painted another color on 36 1/2 low cab trucks? Bruce

The "frame around the grille is part of the one piece shell. To chrome the band the whole sheel would have to be sent to the plater. The windshield frame were never chromed. The low cab truck windshield frame was painted body color. 34 & 35 they were painted black.

I'm going to add a little bit more on the windshield frame my Gold Book shows the trucks with the fenders painted body color the windshield frame was painted body color. On trucks with the front fenders painted black then the windshield frame is painted black. On all trucks the runnibg boards were black. The lower grille shell panel was painted body color if the fenders were body color and black if the frt. fenders were black. All trucks could be painted whatever fleet or business color the customer would want if the factory had that color or the customer had a big enought order ; such as the telephone co., US military, or other big business.
