First thanks for earlier responses, now can I get some guidance for the interior as far as the seat frame, same color as inside of cab or different??
Top of dash and front (guage, radio, etc area) same or different? Striping on cab and wheels, where and how wide, etc. Any good photos or guidance will be appreciated!!
Thanks, Joe

'54joe,

If your interior color is Pearl Beige (standard color) or Pulsar Gray (Deluxe color) all interior sheet metal is painted that color. However, I am not certain about the color of the seat frame - on my Suburban it was the interior color (Pulsar Gray) but I have seen sales pictures that do not have the Pickup's seat fram the same as the interior color.

The center of the verticle bars to the right and left of the radio-speaker grill are painted black (to look like the dark speaker openings in the grill).

Here is a DuPont sheet that specifies the trim colors and a sheet from the 1954 Engineering Specifications Manual:

http://ares.cs.siena.edu/~lederman/truck/Documents/ColorChips/1954DupontB26S3.jpg

Jim Carter sells a sheet that describes pinstriping location and stripe width. The original body stripe on my '54 Subruban was 1/8" wide but people have described stripes of 1/8" to 3/16". There were three stripes on wheels and they were supposedly about 3/16" wide (Jim Carter describes the location).

If you are interested, I could post a photo of my radio grill, body pin-stripe (we used striping tape and painted with a pinstriping brush), and a photo of a striped wheel (done by hand but it is not satisfactory). The way these wheels were/are painted is to touch the paint brush to a spinning wheel. I have never done this but have found a local bodyman who has done this (and will do it for me this winter).

Thanks for the reply Tim,
I have saw the brochures with the seat frame different also, but I couldn't remember my Grandad's being different!? I'll check on the paper from Jim Carter's. One brochure also appeared to have a different color on the face of the dash and the top of the dash, but I sure don't remember his being so, of course I think he may have painted it several times during his ownership. His was Pearl Beige, so I'll follow your directions with other color and stripe trim and get the paper from J. C.
Always enjoy looking at these trucks, so photos are appreciated!!
Thanks again,
Joe

Joe,

Two-tone interior sheet metal colors were avialable in 1954/55 (in the Advance Design trucks) and Pearl Beige was not one of the two-tone interior colors (GregH will correct me and/or provide more information on this).

Maybe someone else with a 54/55 will post information about the seat frame (my pickup did not have original interior paint when I got it, so I am not sure if the seat frame was the interior color).

To clarify/correct what I posted earlier: in my Suburban, the front-seat base was painted interior color; the rest of the front-seat frame and all rear seat frames were painted the interior moulding color (Maroon for the Suburban). Maybe the Pearl Beige Interior had Brown seat frames (and Pearl Beige base) but that is not clear from the Dupont link above. Here are two other interior photos from Sales Brochures:

Deluxe Pulsar Gray Interior with Maroon trim-panel and Pearl Beige seat frame
Standard Pearl Beige Interior with Brown trim-panel and Pearl Beige seat frame

Jim Carter's striping paint sheet had information about pin striping but not information on interior colors.

Here are pinstripe and radio grill photos:

Belt Pinstripe near wiper post
Three pinstripes on a wheel
Radio Grill vertical black stripes

First the disclosure statement. I have ssen my truck with the 2 tone blue interior and maybe 3 others with same blue treatment. Mine has been in family since mid 60s and I have every reason to believe it is original interior paint. I have heard of but not seen the same treatment in 2 shades of green . I do not know if there are any other combinations. With the two tone interior came things like chrome vent window frames and pass side sun visor. Now I will poit to my webshots photos for hopefully a better explanation. Hope this helps, G.H. http://community.webshots.com/user/greg_h
