joker,
I love you like a brother, and will try to fix anything even if it isn't broken, but I don't have the "right stuff" nor the interest in most things electrical. While I may eventually open your link, it causes me mental anguish just to think about delving into what always ends up as a fruitless endeavor.
To me, wiring diagrams seem like reading Chinese, written by a drunk Russian. I am sure many will appreciate your link and kindly thank you for it. Those are the kind of people which I should seek out to bail me out when I have electrical problems.

That is a great site with loads of info. Thanks for the link.

Carl, you should take the time to open it and educate yourself.

I learned something right off......I think. For almost 70 years I thought current ran from positive to negative (positive pushing toward negative pulling) and that site says I'm wrong. If that's true then the power in our vehicles exits the battery through the ground cable, runs it's course through the body and electronics and reenters the battery through the positive cable. That just sounds wrong.

No Tiny, you've had it right for 70 practical years. That's just theoretician's confusing things. These guys have it right in the link below. I thought it was a pretty good video for us car guys. Explains open circuit, short to ground and short to power in simple terms. Also covers 3 types of circuit protection - fuses, circuit breakers and fusible links.

OK joker, and cletis, I finally opened the link!
Everything went very well until I got to the Pie Chart, then my head exploded...
At least now I can make my friends think that I am smart by referring to amps as amperes. When they challenge me on it, I will ask them, "What? Do you eat soup with your hands? Of course its amperes! Look it up."
Thank you,
Carl

Just now adding these references to the Links page. Good stuff ... I guess. I like the colors ... not sure what they are talking about -- other than electricity! grin

National Lampoon Magazine just awarded you the 2016 Corny Joke award. Congrats Jerry, another plaque for the wall.

Charles-Augustin de Coulomb (French, 14 June 1736 — 23 August 1806) was a French physicist. He was best known for developing Coulomb's law, the definition of the electrostatic force of attraction and repulsion, but also did important work on friction. The SI unit of electric charge, the coulomb, was named after him

Ohmmmm ... this is too electric for me.

If you turn the switch and the light goes on, something is not right. End of today's lesson.

Not true. It all depends on whether you are working with semi-conductors or RLC circuits (as in cars). Engineers recognize 2 types of current flow: electron flow, from positive to negative; and "hole" flow, from negative to positive. For an automotive enthusiast, "hole" flow serves little if any value.

If the facts don't match the theory, just change the theory. That's what happened when the so-called "scientists" couldn't explain current flow with conventional ideas after solid state electronics came along.

Since nobody's managed to actually see an electron yet, it's all guesswork!

That is exactly why I am hesitant to pay the electric bill. I didn't see any!?
