For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 135 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 135 | I have 1950 3100 which currently only has the cab on the chassis no other sheet metal or engine (the engine is ready though). I am ready to run new brake lines for the dual circuit master cylinder. Is it better to run the lines before the engine is installed or after? This is my first "Restoration" project and can see positives and negatives of each.

The less you have to work around, the easier it is | | | | | Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 2,062 Big Bolt Forum Moderator | | Big Bolt Forum Moderator Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 2,062 | easier to work around with nothing else in the way, although you want to make sure you are staying away from where you will eventually run your exhaust. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,747 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,747 | Stock truck? Follow the stock locations. Generally, easier to move around with out stuff in the way. Modified truck? Everything matters. Heat is the enemy, so is possible contact with any possible movement(engine vibration, exhaust pipe movement and suspension travel). I know it sounds dumb, but some times people forget. You can heat shield, but better routing is safer. Don't forget fuel lines while you are under there.
