Went to Bike week in Daytona FL 3\4 - 3/13 and stayed with a friend of a friend in Deland FL .Well this guys house had been foreclosed on .So I decided to help him move to his new place 94 miles away on the west side of FL .So I drove the 100 miles back south to pick up my Big Bolt .With my diesel Chevy S10 in tow I was back in Deland the next day .We made one round trip over and back 184 miles .Next was 20'x 11'8" shed it didn't weigh much but it was big .But it had 3 skids under it and the 2 outside skids just fit the width of my bed and only 8'would hang off the back of my bed .But how to load it by hand which was the only option We had .
The answer was my engine hoist I thoughtfully brought back with me .The plan was pick up the end of the shed back the truck under it ,then I put a floor jack on the bed under the middle skid jack it up a bit and did the same until I came to the 11 foot mark . Remember the shed is 20' long so at 11' I'm now 1' past the center point So in theory it should just flop onto the bed with a small push .I tied it off so it could not slip backwards ,3 of us got behind it a with very easy push , it flopped onto the bed .
A few hours later I had it tied down ,my emt mirror extensions done and the lights and oversize load sign made,and we hooked on a small utility trailer that would work ok under the 8' shed overhang .
Then it was off on our 94 mile journey the next morn . All went well except the speed ,36 mph was we could do made it to 41 down hill once .
I got lucky on my way home a couple of weeks later with my S10 in tow the rear end went pop at very busy traffic light 3 lanes 55 mph 8:30pm .At least I was able to push it off the RD. with the S10 and tow bar with a small female deputy sheriff steering the Big Bolt .Thanks to Polk County Sheriff Dept.
How I got the big Bolt Towed home 139 miles well that's was my next adventure .Read my post about STP in the tranny for a preview .

I hauled a 12' wide building just 10 miles through the back roads early one Sunday morning and that was enough fun, glad we didn't meet anyone. I don't envy you on a 94 mile trip, perhaps your roads are wider?

I was moving a John Deere "A" tractor on a flatbed and simply could not get the trailer, with the tractor, balanced properly for safe towing. Well we made a quick executive decision and made the trip anyway. Here in Utah, we have mountains and I needed to go over one Mtn. pass to get from where I purchased the tractor to my home. Going up the mountain grade, my pick-up was unloaded too much on the back and I was literally spinning the wheels to get to the summit of the pass. It scared the, "you know what", out of me! I bet your truck was a bit lite on the steering. Glad you made your trip safely and another memory was made in ole red!
