So I took out the fuel sending unit,it was bad as expected. Looked inside and tank was rust covered. Did a search on here but didn't find anything in first 5+ screens of search for gas+tank+clean. Any advice? No local places seem to do this anymore. One place said I can get vinegar or muriatic acid and do it myself (they only sell replacements). But also said just keep it full, no sealing required...

I have used both the acid and molasses cleaning methods both with good results. I am certain there are still shops that can professionally clean and seal the tank, search your area for "oldtime" radiator shops as they often can perform this type of work.

If your truck uses the behind the seat gas tank you might be better off purchising a new tank.

My tank is perfect on the outside, but the gas went bad inside and fouled it. I plan to do some version of the "gravel tumble" and reseal it, but don't have a tractor with big enough wheels!
