Do you have any pictures of the wheels on the front?

Not yet - without mounting a tire on it I'm not sure how it will look against the tie-rod. I'm trying to find some local used LT225/75R16 tires to try.

Chad,

Have you checked out the inside clearance with the tie-rod and steering arms in place?

Tie-rod End Pic

The Tires I chose are Crosswind L780 in LT225/75R16 size. Total diameter of tire is 28". This is a 10-ply tire with Load rating of "E". Section width is about 8.5".

They also had this tire in LT215/85R16 which was about 30.5" diameter and slightly skinnier, at roughly 8.25" section width. That might be the good answer in terms of width, but I wanted to lower my truck a tad.

So again my tires are Crosswind L780 in LT225/75R16 size.

I have about 3/16" of space between the tie-rod and tire, which I'm leery about with any sidewall flex during driving. I'm going to add a 1/4" wheel spacer Jegs 1/4" Wheel Spacer to give me almost half an inch total between the tie-rod end and tire.

The stock tires from the factory were roughly 30.5" diameter, so these are 2.5" less in diameter.

Technically, yes. There was about 3/16" space between the tire and tierod end. But to me I felt that it wasnt enough if the tire flexed under cornering and I didnt want to take the chance. The 1/4" spacers have caused me no trouble. If you are leery, try 1/8" spacers. Also if you buy a skinnier tire it would be better. I believe Michilin makes an XP-Rib or something similar. My tire is a 10-ply Load E so it probably has minimal flex taking place.

The difference in price was roughly $250/ea for the Michilin tire vs about $100/ea for mine.

A better tire spec might be 215/85R16 LT, also common - read, "readily available" - on current 1-ton working trucks hereabouts, and a marginally (1/2") higher profile.

Those rims are so beautiful, Chad. When are we gonna see 'em with hubcaps and beauty rings?

You can't just leave 'em all nekkid like that, can you?

On the wheel specs, was there an option on the offset? If there was, a 0 offset would have eliminated the need for a spacer.

I use these wheels on my 51 3800 and have been for a couple years now, no problems. I run 215/85 16 Goodrich radials. I removed my hubcap clips by grinding them off the old wheels, drilled and tapped my new wheels and run original hubcaps. Perfectly satisfied with the setup.

Phil can you explain further on how you installed your clips for your hubcaps?

I used these clips to attach my Task Force hubcaps to my 16 x 7 wheels. Use compass to find edge center of hubcap on wheel. Mark and drill four equal spots. Use self-tapping screws (2x per clip)to attach each clip (4x/wheel) to the wheel. You may have to alter the clip to secure the edge of hubcap.
