| | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 393 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 393 | I've just had my radiator rebuilt and am freshening up the whole radiator support area (1947 AD 216) I have done a lot of searching on the site but am uncertain about the orientation of the bolts that attach the radiator support to the cross member. I have read and seen that they either go down (i.e. head up) or upside down (i.e. head at the bottom. Is there a right way or does it matter? I believe the bolts are 2 inch carriage bolts. (I don't trust some of the things the previous owner(s) have put on the truck.) Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If the bolt goes in from the top and the nut falls off the bolt stays in place. This is unless the only way to insert bolt head is in the opposite direction.

The bolt can only go up from the bottom.
The support on my 50 1/2 ton has two mounting points
