The hole has a plastic disk and under is burlap. Does anyone know what this was used for? I always thought the area covered in light green metal was for the floor starter. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m127/59apache/UGP_zpsz92p1iwv.jpgThanks in Advance | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | That would be where the factory throttle linkage rod goes through. The setup that is in it now is not factory. You are correct about the green plate, that is covering the 6 cylinder starter pedal hole.

That would explain why my gas pedal is all jacked up and the NOS replacement isn't working. Do you think this is from a newer truck or maybe an impala? My firewall "looks" un-modified. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 219 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 219 | After some digging it looks like this came from a 59/60 full size Chevy car | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | I do believe the stock type linkage is available, if you want to put it back to stock type.

Would anyone happen to have a picture of the way an original is correctly setup? The originals are a little different than the modern reproductions. It seems like the old ones still have the "Throttle" option. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | the throttle cable is separately hooked up regardless of pedal linkage, should be an instruction in the assembly manual, or maybe this pic will help you figure it Bill [the other one] | | | | | Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 219 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 219 | Thanks Bill,
I appreciate the response. I want to blow this linkage apart, clean, blast and restore it. I was hoping to get a shot of an original as was so I can completely copy it. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2015 Posts: 336 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2015 Posts: 336 | if you have an original linkage, take photos of it, tear it apart and do what you want to do. When you're ready to reassemble, look at your photos. The disk piece is there to keep the rod from rubbing metal to metal.
