| | THANKS!
For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 73 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 73 | I have 6 of these parts but am missing two of them. Does anyone know what the name of this part is so I can know what term to surf the web for. It is the bracket that holds the upright board for the sideboards on the flat bed of the truck. Please see the picture of the part in my photobucket. Dave | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,233 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,233 | Stake Pockets... Wonder if one of the Chevrolet Master parts price list catalogs I see on Ebay would tell me. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 1,123 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 1,123 | Wasn't the answer that I wanted. Lol Last resort. Wonder if one of the Chevrolet Master parts price list catalogs I see on Ebay would tell me. One of these might. But, it will need to be an edition earlier than the oldest I have (1929-1942). That edition lists truck parts only back to 1934. Beds for large trucks were often custom made. So the brackets pictured may have been as well. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,233 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,233 | 1931 was the first year Chevrolet offered a factory mounted stake body, there are no part numbers for that part. Your bed was made by an outside vendor, a local wagon/body shop or by the owner. Break out the welder and make them or find a structural steel fabricator working on a job site and ask him to make them...bet you can get them made for $15-20 bucks or a case of beer! It looks like two pieces of angle iron welded together to make the box (box tubing has not been developed yet) with a couple bolt tabs...easy stuff! Mike B | | |
