I have a 1958 Chevrolet Apache with the 12v electrical windshield washer assembly. The non mechanical variety. The link assemblies have stops in them. I was wondering, if the vacuum motor variety had stops and the electrical motor variety would not have stops?

not clear what you're talking about .... maybe the accessory manual could help, it appears to show a vacuum motor

What I am talking about are the two pieces, one on each side that run from the motor, to the wipers, mine have stops in them and I am trying to understand why?

aaah, windshield wipers, not washers smile and the 'stops' are in the transmission link arms .... maybe simply the change to a 'standard' electric wiper setup, which was different than the vacuum setup after 58, but maybe you're meaning the ends where the long arms attach to the pivot - if you have the factory setup for 58/9 the main link arm was one piece [and labeled left/right], maybe someone changed something?

Yes, the stops on the link arms. I was posting because I was asking if, the electrical variety had the stops. It appears from your answer that no, it should not have stops. Cutting or bending the stops is easy enough.

if you think you have a factory setup, why 'hack' it? .... picture of 58/9 wipers

Your picture, the first does not appear to have the stops on the link assembles. I have to do something about mine, so it will rotate 360.

What keeps the wiper arm from doing a 360?

geometry ... the length of the pieces result in a back-n-forth of the links as the bracket they're attached to/driven by rotates 360, so causing the arms/blades to reverse directions every rotation of the motor .... if your [installed] wiper blades are trying to go right around [360], something is installed wrong or some parts are wrong, maybe the link arms are switched right/left

The link rods are marked, left and right. The left I've been putting on the drivers side and the right the passengers, is this correct?
