Hey has anyone eliminated the rear coil springs and used coil overs to lower the back of a 64-66 pickup? Thanks, ron.

Try about a thousand bricks or half a yard of gravel in the bed- - - - -instant lowering!

You guys are vicious! LOL! While many folks on this forum like a factory stance, I just say "to each his own". There are plenty of nice trucks on both sides of that fence.

In answer to the OP question, I can't think of anyone on this forum who has coilovers on a lowered truck. You might not get a reply because of that reason. Please share with us what you find out and what works.

I used coil overs when I built my Model A Tudor hot rod... they produce a pretty stiff / harsh ride.

The factory set-up on the 63-66 trucks is pretty hard to beat. You can buy lowering springs that vary 2", 4" or 6" for about $100 a pair. No welding, no bracketry to design.. just bolt them on.

I used coil-overs once but only on leaf spring suspensions to assist, as I removed all but a single leaf. This was in conjunction with traction bars to allow dialing in traction a bit. I agree the kits available to drop the 63's are great and require almost no work. I do like the look of a set of coil-overs from the rear giving it kind of a bucket look.
Pictures for sure if you decide that route.
Incidently I am on top of the fence having added a 2" body lift for a 3/4" stance.
