interested in swapping a diesel engine in a 1951 Studebaker 1 ton truck. I currently have no drive train. open for suggestions on different engine swaps

Stude' engine compartments are very short, firewall is panel, not much room for sound deadening.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

What diesel engine? 4 cylinder would fit as would most V8's. Cummins 6 cylinder would be a chore. We have a 51 3/4T Stude here right now with a sbc and had another 51 with a bbc in a pull truck. Inner fenders tweeked but firewall (which is also the dash) and front clip stock on both.
