Today I bought a 1949 1 ton Chevy. It is a dually w/flatbed. I had been watching it on Denver craigslist for a week or so. I was on the road & trying to get routed back home, so I couldn't just go check it out. Finally got home and contacted the owner. He still had it! Yay!! I can't believe no one had bought it. This baby is complete & mostly original. It had spent all of it's life on a farm in CO. I already have a '49 1/2 ton, so this makes a great addition. Drove my '49 the 90 miles to their house.
It has the 216, 4spd,& dual rear w/ 18" wheels. Even got the title. Been sitting for 10 yrs or more, so didn't try to start it. Looks like it will run. Just praying for no rod knock. Never know why they stopped driving it. I can't take it home yet. Home might have to be a storage lot. The owner said I could leave it for couple weeks. I'm gonna go back with parts, fix brakes, get it running, and drive it home. Well, that's the plan anyway. Hopefully I can fix her up as close to original as possible and enjoy. I'm just glad I got it before someone yanked the cab destroying such an awesome beast.
