Has anyone ever used T-bolt hose clamps on their hoses? I'm sick of these worm gear type. All they do is eat up the hose and strip even the so called good ones. Summit racing has T-bolt clamps and the bands are 3/4" wide instead of 1/2" and they do not destroy the hose so they say.
Thanks Steve

The worm gear clamps are good ones....if you find GOOD ones. I threw away an assortment of them that I pickup up long ago at harbor freight and some other places.
Last week I went to Advance Auto and ask the lady in Commerical if she still sold the "good ones" to the garages out of the big boxes. I think I paid .79 cent a piece for some good thick ones.
If you buy them prepackaged off the rack your wasting your money.
There are good worm clamps out there..... .but hey, I'm almost ready to go back to the "wire" clamps. Never have to tighten them up. Had a "cold" water leak on a manifold that I couldn't stop until I put a wire clamp on it so it could "breath".

Steve,

Sounds good, but make sure all parts are stainless steel.

There are lots of kinds of hose clamps.
For most things I like the Ideal or breeze brand all stainless heavy duty. Check out their catalogs. They also make clamps with liners that won't harm the hose, often required on silicone hoses.
Not all clamps are equal, try some good quality ones.

T bolt clamps everywhere would be unnecessary. (Tim, it's hard to find them made entirely of stainless, I needed some for a project with salt water, never quite found what I wanted but made do.)

You must be careful of so called stainless steel clamps. Your local FLAPS will carry stainless steel bands but the worm gear is cad plated steel along with the housing. We went to three stores all the same. Plumbing or a marine store might carry all stainless steel. The T-bolt clamps from Sumitt racing are 100% SS and are high pressure non hose destroying with wider bands. I'm going to get a couple for my heater inlet tubes.

I agree with WHO, ME ? regarding finding that all parts might not be stainless steel. I found some that had a SS band and they had very rusted worm gears (and were very hard to unscrew).

Please post a part number if you find a Summit Racing T-bolt clamp that is all stainless and is small enough diameter for a heater hose.

If you have a Fastenal branch near you give them a visit.
I have purchased clamps for silicone hoses from them in the past.
As Grigg said, you want the clamps with the "liner", (stainless band without the worm drive on the inside of the clamp).
They are available in all stainless, or stainless with an alloy worm bolt.
Just a thought..

Fastenal may also stock the Tbolt clamps as well, And quite possibly cheaper than Summit.
