I am replacing the bed wood on my 55-1 daily driver. I am kicking around the idea of using a sheet of marine plywood instead of the individual boards? Any potential problems with this installation?

two problems. The bed is more than 48 inches wide, so you need two pieces. Also, you need to seal the edges of the plywood real well. It will soak up moisture and allow the plywood to delaminate.

I would use a sheet of galvanized or stainless steel.
