Rochester carburetor
My truck run good and drives fine when driven like an old farmer but when I put my food to the floor it sputters and dies.
Any thoughts and/or advice?

If you stomp on it & it immediately stumbles & dies it's likely the accelerator pump. If you stomp on it & it runs for a few seconds then stumbles & dies it could be the fuel pump.

The fuel dissolved the silicone into a gel.
The gel made it into the fuel filter and restricted the fuel flow.
The engine ran good up to about 55 mph then would die, until I let up on the gas pedal, then it would starting running again.

It was that the fuel bowl in the carb was not completely full due to an incorrect setting of the needle valve. Float in carb set a bit low, fuel pump startign to go, clogged filter, or, assuming the fuel line routing is similar to my 55 and 58, make sure the flexible fuel line from the tank through the floor of the cab is not getting real old and collapsing or swelling shut. I cleaned the tank and lines on my 55 recently and filled it with some fresh gas. (had been sitting for 3-4 years before I got it). It fired up and ran fine but after sitting with new gas in it for a couple weeks, it swelled shut and would not run. If I let it sit overnight, it wold dribble enough gas through that I could start it and it would run for a bit.... then die. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,254 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,254 | Thanks to all. I bought a rebuild kit for both the carter yf2100s and the Rochester. I'll rebuild both then see if that solves the problem.
