My truck has size 15 inch tires. Would my truck look better with 16 inch tires and should I put radial or ply tires on the truck. I need some suggestions. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | RHuddle56,
6.00x16 6-ply bias tires were the standard tires on 1/2 ton trucks
6.50x16 6-ply bias tires were a common factory option
Another option in 1954 were 15" 6-ply tires (7.0x16 5.5" rim width).
I have 15" TOYO radials on one of my trucks and 16" Cooper radials on the other (original rims). Both types of tires are blackwall and are about the same diameter (30-31"). They provide a smooth ride and do not seem to wander as much as did bias tires.
