After rep;acing the 216 with a 235 in 1950 3100, I need a lower radiator hose that will work with the 235 water pump and original radiator. What hose did you guys use when making this swap? My local parts guy wasn't any help. Thanks!

Jim Carter has hoses that will fit.

How did you address the water pump clearance issue? Move radiator fore? Short shay pump? Water pump adapter?

Jim Carter sells one for the short shaft pump with radiator in stock position.

I used the short shaft pump from Jim Carter. I will check with them again on the hose. I had to use spacers on the fan to clear the timing chain cover. Thanks.

I have/had the same problem. My bottom radiator outlet is 1 3/4" and the old style short water pump is 1 1/2 if my memory is good tonight.
I'm planning on using an exhaust reducer to connect the two different sizes. Most FLAPS have several size reducers/connectors.

....and I saw a short 1 3/4 to 1 1/2 reducer offered by either Chevs of the 40's or maybe it was Filling Station.

NOTE: When looking for the bottom hose be careful to get the correct length. I've checked several places and some list the "correct" hose as being 13 1/4" and another place listed it as 17". Be sure you know what lengths you're looking for.

NOTE: I found some flex hoses with different size on each end but when flexed to fit my situation I felt it put just to much pressure/stain on the bottom aluminum outlet to suit me.

Hope this helps someone.

I have a 49 with a 261 engine which has it's original water pump {shortened shaft}. The hoses that I used are CARQUEST #21342 for upper, CARQUEST #21615 for lower, and CARQUEST #28474 for bypass hose. IIRC I did have to cut them to fit. Hope this helps. Dave V

DaveV, Thanks for posting the info. That bottom hose number is what I came up with and plan to pick it up Monday for my coupe with a 261.
I had to use the Water Pump Adapter and an old style water pump to get things to work in the coupe and I needed the radiator bottom outlet for 1 3/4" and the pump 1 1/2". Needless to say I won't need the reducers I alluded to in my above post but its always an option.

...the Carquest #21615 you listed crosses to a NAPA # NBH 833

Hopefully this will help someone else without them going bonkers like I have been looking through rows of hoses!

The hose I need is 1 1/2 inch at the radiator and 1 3/4 inch at the pump. Thanks for any suggestions!

Had the exact dimensions you need.
Don't remember the number (I returned it) but easy to spot. Got it at CARQUEST/Advance parts store. Easy to spot hanging in the hoses.
