Just swapped out the 216 for a 235 in 1950 3100 and the three speed trans is stuck in either first or reverse( crankshaft rotates when I rock the truck), I adjusted the clutch all the way in and out and tried to move the shift rod at the trans but it will not budge. Second and third move as normal. I appreciate any and all help. Happy New Year!

Disconnect both shift rods at the side of the transmission, and jack up one rear wheel. Try to work the rear shift lever (the 1st./reverse) back and forth as someone else rocks the jacked-up wheel forward and back. Once the tension on the shift linkage is released, the trans should pop back into the neutral gate. Then center the column shift linkage and adjust the shift rods to fit the trans levers properly.

you might also try someone holding the shift lever in neutral, between 2nd and 3rd (as if shifting from 2-3) and then moving the R-1 shift lever on the trans back to neutral. A lot of times, sloppy shift linkage on the column will cause this (I have a cushman with 3 on the tree and it is HORRIBLE! it does that all the time!)
