Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,256 | Okay, just about got my in tank fuel injection fuel pump done. Only took forever! I was mounting the tank on the frame when I had a look at the front bracket / strap. The rear strap touches the frame but the front one doesn't except at the top and bottom edges of the frame. Where the single bolt holds it in place, the bolt that goes throught the rear running board bracket, there is a gap of about 1/4" between the bracket and the inner frame. Is this correct? Am I missing a spacer there? Should that bracket be making full contact with the frame like the rear bracket?? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | It looks like the 1954 Suburban fuel tank mounts differently from earlier years. Maybe someone else has a picture? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2014 Posts: 3 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2014 Posts: 3 | I'm running into the same problem on my '48 truck, when I went to install the front mount today I have almost a 1" gap to the frame. The rear mount fits perfect. At first I tought the bolts holding the rear running board bracket were the culprit. Haven't been able to find any good pictures of the mount installed. Anyone have a front frame mount they can take a pic of? Thanks! I asked that question back in 2006 when I had the body off of the frame. I'll have to crawl under there to see what I was talking about. Maybe we can help Larry figure out what is going on. I haven't thought about this since I reassembled the vehicle. Now I'm curious again. If not maybe that's why there is a gap... Mike B | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,256 "Hey! I sound like Darth Vader!! | | "Hey! I sound like Darth Vader!! Mike B There typically is, I used rubber sheet cut down. http://www.bunchobikes.com/1952suburban58.jpg The area we are talking about is where the main bracket attaches to the frame. | | |
