So is it possible to utilize the mechanical fuel pump with a regulating device to feed my Carb.\

Just don't see any reason to install an electric pump

Weber likes a steady 3.5 psi at the needle and seat. A regulator like this: http://www.4wd.com/Jeep-Engine-Perf...c=74&t_s=368&t_pt=3444&t_pn=
should work just fine

To be honest Steve,we used to use these on twin carb set-ups on VW racing engines and frankly they didn't hold up well.
I do agree Webers and most other carbs for that matter will benefit from a steady, pulse free fuel supply and to that end we used to use these,a Malpassi Filter King regulator.
They were used on many Italian exotics such as Ferrari with their multi carbed engines, they can also be retro fitted or bought with a pressure gauge for fine tuning and as an added bonus they have the filter.

I also feel they look much better in an old trucks engine bay.

re: jockbolter50 : It even looks like it should be in place. 54 Pounds? Current exchange is about 1(pound) to 1.48(dollar). That comes to about 80.00 dollars US. A little spendy for me.

Fair comment but then quality doesn't usually come cheap.

Savannah,

Do not use the regulator pictured. Get the Holley low pressure regulator and a liquid filled 15 lb guage. Adjust 3+1/2 lb.

There are TWO factors. Pressure AND volume. As said the Weber wants 3.5-4. The stock mechanical pump gives 5.5 PSI. Don't know volume. If the pressure does not blow the needle valve and the volume keeps the bowl filled, you don't need a reg. Maybe you tried it without already? I don't now if you are building a dragster or what. But the stock carb and stock pump will run a 6 just fine. When you need a regulator you either have injection or are trying to match mismatched parts. Regulators can cause problems with volume, have leaks, go bad and a good one is expensive. Then of course you have to have AN fittings and SS hose and.....
The entire WWW, started by Al Gore, says a Weber 32/36 runs perfect with a Cater 4070 electric fuel pump. $65, high volume, 4psi.
Or put the Rochester or a Carter on with stock pump. Either way is not a mix-match and no regs.
I don't know your history but if you have an Offy intake, a hot cam, EFI and all that, then it's a different story.

Ever thought of altering/ tailoring the stock pump? Be sure to test pressure and volume at same time. David
