I'm planning on painting my truck, and have seen how nice and how durable acrylic urethane paint is. I'm planning on using PPG Omni Acrylic Urethane.
I've shot acrylic enamel before. Is there anything special that shooting acrylic urethane requires?

If you are doing a base/clear you may notice that the clear coat flashes pretty slowly, meaning you need to allow for the full flash time (20 minutes on the last stuff I used from Valspar) and be very careful to avoid runs. It flows out really nicely though.

The price difference may be negated by the number of coats you need to use. It took us 6 coats to get full and even coverage with Omni. Make that 2.5 with regular PPG.

My limited experience matches Ryan's. I think that PPGs DCC line is the higher-priced/higher-quality line of Urethane. Fewer coats of it are needed in comparison to the PPG Omni line (I used Omni expoxy primer on my last job but will use the higher line in the future - yes, the cost is different but why take a chance on failure or poorer performance on a paint jon you want to last?
Also, I have found that the DCC top coat buffs to a hard and very shiny surface (no clear coat). I think it is recommended to color sand and buff it the next day - it gets quite hard if you wait longer to sand/buff (get a directions sheet and follow it carefully).

I've used the base clear (ppg 2021) and was not happy with coverage but this may be due to what you mentioned - it already being very thin.
