Our parking brake has become most evil releasing on slopes and flats. How does one go about adjusting it. I have gotten some pointers from Deve and TC
Lederman. Are the cables adjustable my brake pedal is near the floor? Are there any maintence procedures that are published?
Thanks for your help....
1954 Shop Manual - steps 6-10 First adjust the center parking brake pull-rod (the manual states Fig 4, but I do not see the pull rod?). Trace the mechanical rod linkage from the pedal to the rear cross arm/bar that runs to/through each frame rail forward of the rear wheels. You might have to lubricate/loosen adjustment nut.
Then adjust the parking brake pull-cable end at each wheel as described by Steve H and the Shop Manual.
Lubricate the nut/threads and cables as described by Steve H and the Shop Manual.
If anyone has found rubber boots that do not get brittle and deteriorate, please post vendor/part-number.
