The angled trim on the sides front to back around the wheel wells? Mine is badly rusted in some sections. It is a 1952 GMC. Or what have you done to replace them? Much thanks from sunny Arizona.

Please include the year of your truck in all posts. That allows readers to be certain their reply is referring to the correct vehicle. | | | | Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 96 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 96 | No replies.? Speaking with a guy this weekend at the Goodguys show in Scottsdale, was trying to sell a 1 ton long body 53 panel. He told me the trim I'm asking about is welded to the inner body panels. Plywood floor is sandwiched between trim and floor with the carriage bolts through all. Is that so? Has anyone addressed the rusted out trim pieces? Made your own? I'm thinking carpet with the edges bound then stainless flat of some kind to hold it down. Would really like to see what some have done! | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,168 "Hey! Let us all know what you find out, or how you handle this. I'm curious. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | That "lip" is welded on. No one makes a replacement.
You will have to fabricate a replacement strip or remove one from another 47-55 Suburban.
There are 20+ spotwelds on each side.

It sat too long without glass and rain and snow did its work on a lot of the trim. Wood is fine. I will post when I get to that stage. Thanks again. | | | | Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 137 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 137 | go to a sheet metal shop ,and have some flat say 16?? gauge strips bent into a 90 degree angle, go to harbor freight and buy a "shrinker-stretcher" unit and this will shrink the angle to fit the corners to the body ! if you have not seen one work ?go to "metelmeet .com or "all metalshaping .com lots of info on there ! good luck | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 112 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 112 | The angle pcs. You're talking about is in fact, spot welded to the inner side panels. The ones that are on a panel is the same as a burb. Im working on them right now.if you can find a panel truck with good ones, you can cut out the spot welds and reuse them on your burb. Where in Az. Are you? I'm near Surprise, Az.. Do you have the one piece plywood floor? Are you replacing that too?
