Finally remembered to get the camera going at the same time I had the truck out. Have the engine on the back still from several shows I've gone to this fall. Its about 2000 pounds worth of iron between the engine and the heavy skid its on. I get quite a lot of conversations out of the combination, and its very entertaining to watch people walk by, thinking its just an unassuming v-8 power unit, but then turn around and walk up once the spark plug count doesn't compute.
It's a 1937 American LaFrance V-12, with dual ignition, so there are 12 plugs on each side, 24 total. It also has an unusual head configuration making the 45 degree V seem like its much closer together. My dad found it in a dumpster about 15 years ago, he happened to be driving by as it slid off the forklift. Long story short, it came home, and luckily it wasn't damaged from the fall. It didn't run because one of the ignition systems was 180 degrees out of time. Didn't take long to get it running, as luckily I had chosen the correctly timed ignition system to jumper up as a test fire. After a cleanup, and repurposing of an old skid thats way to heavy for this use, I set it up as a runnable display. One day I'll have something that needs an engine and can be made to hold the monster...
If you like gear whine, turn up the sound- this video is for you. A quick walk-around of the truck and load, followed by some ride along into town and back.
Ride along with a little load.
