I bought an original radio for my 56 chevy 3100. radio

I also purchased a new speaker since my original speaker was damaged. new dual speaker and new speaker

The radio has 3 wires coming out the side. wiring on the side
One goes to the bottom of the radio which is the dial light, and the other two wires i am assuming is the postive and ground wires. Is this correct so far?

Next to the dial light wire going into the radio is a white plug style connector. speaker wire?????? speaker plug????? Does this wire feed to the positive connector on the speaker? Now if i hook up the speaker that way do i put the other connector to a ground on the body?

Lastly do i run the one speaker wire in parallel from the radio to the one connector of each speaker and the other 2 connectors one from each speaker to the ground on the body?

Thanks guys

There should be a main power feed, maybe a separate dial light feed and a feed for the speaker. If you hook up your ohm meter between ground and each wire one at a time, you should be able to tell which ones are for power. Turning the off/on to off will give you a very high resistance and the on position will show a low resistance.

I haven't used those aftermarket speakers but I would say hook the speaker feed to one terminal of each speaker, in parallel, and then connect the other speaker terminals to ground.

Here is the corrected link to your radio photo that you posted. radio photo

Hey thanks i changed the post and the radio photo should work now.

So i am correct about the 2 wires on the side for power and ground.

The white plug in on the bottom that is where the speaker wire connects?

Sorry I was never a radio guy.

I just corrected your plug link to see it. Are you sure that doesn't hold the dial bulb? There should be a way of changing the bulb without taking the cover off.

Ok so I just checked one of my radios which is similar. I believe that used to be a socket for the speaker plug. So I would find out what was attached to that inside, splice a new wire on, insulate it and bring it out the hole. You don't really need a plug.
