Iv seen trucks where they put the filler right in the bed floor, I'm not fan of that. What I'd like to do is put it in the rear fender, preferable in the rear of the fender. Has anyone done this? Have pics for ideas? I dont know yet if i want try and add a hinged door with filler neck behind it or just come out with filler neck like how it is on the cab. Any thoughts or resources on materials?

I want to put it in the driver fender because the connection off of the tank is pointing in that direction, also its hard to see in the pic but theres some crinkling in the fender in that one spot (long story, pretty sure the powder coated damaged it and did a bad job covering it up by banging it out a little) and I figure kill 2 birds with one stone by put the filler there to avoid doing some body work, I think it might be hard making it look right with it being on a big curved surface though. http://i.imgur.com/1OJVYxo.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/Zz2fRqf.jpg | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | On my '56 3100 I used a 55-59 Suburban/Panel gas tank that mounts between the frame rail and drive shaft on the bassenger side. Then I ran the filler pipe to the rear fender behind the wheel. I used a filler assembly unit made by Tanks, Inc. I ran the tank vent to the top of the fender well using one of the fender mounting bolts with a ell bracket to hold the rollover valve/vent in place. The only issue I have is I have to fill it slow, as fast fill will make it burp back, but I can live with that. I didnt want my tank under the rear of the bed for three reasons... 1) I wanted to keep my spare tire in place 2) I wanted to be able to fill the truck if I had a load in the bed and 3) I didn't want my truck to go up in flames if there was a rear end wreck.
