55-59 truck engines had front mounts, cars of that era had side mounts. Not sure about 60-62 truck mounting as they were different. However, car engines can be used in trucks and vice versa as the mount issue can be overcome. I installed a 60 car engine in a 59 truck by drilling the front plate and the frame and installing a mount between them.

Year for year the engines generally had the same mount provisions, although cars and trucks seldom used these same mount provisions.
What year truck and what year engine are we talking about?

1946 1/2 ton, the engine I had is a 261, it would have bolted right in and it came out of a 57 Pontiac car. It has very poor compression and would need a complete rebuild. A friend found a 235 am not sure of the year but the guy that has it says it won't fit a truck.

Post the year of the 235 and people can give you advice about using it with your 1946 1/2 ton truck?

What clutch housing, clutch assembly, transmission, driveshaft and rear end do you have that would have allowed the 261 to bolt right in?

Any 235 will fit a 46 truck.
Depending on the year of the engine you may need to drill the front plate for the front mount.
1960 and later will need throttle linkage work (see link).
1955-62 engines will need water pump conversion work of your choice (my choice).
1946 truck has the exhaust dump straight down on the manifold, all full pressure 235's have the exhaust angle back. This will require head pipe work, or using the 46 manifold.
