Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 | The 1 ton axle is significantly smaller/lighter weight than the 2 ton axle. I would not reduce axle capacity and add more front end weight.
There are a few options for swapping or installing disc brakes on the 2 ton axle, one method is pretty well covered in a sticky thread in this section.
