She cranked fast and fired within seconds. Only ran a short time as a I don't have the radiator and alt hooked up yet. Sounded good though- valves , timing , carb all seem pretty close. Man that felt good. The cam lobe/lifter contact areas are only lubricated from oil splash. At idle, the amount of splash is not enough to protect the new cam until it is broken in. Carl

Carl Thanks Carl, I agree...it's the old cam and lifters though. It wasn't a total rebuild- I did a full tear down because I didn't know what I had.
