It is a model DMB500, which means nothing to me but someone out there may be familiar with this type of pump. I have no need for it and would just send it to the scrappers unless there is anyone interested. Here's some photos. Let me know if you're interested, Bill | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 581 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 581 | Bill,
I'd gladly take it, but I'm about a million miles away, in St. Louis, MO. I don't think shipping would be "practical", though I'll check.
If you would, however, do me a favor. This pump was built by the American Fire Apparatus Co. of Battle Creek, MI. The company's records are lost to history, but I'm helping a friend build a database of the trucks they built.
Can you provide the original department this truck served, and the build number? The build number was usually on a black plate on the seat riser, driver's side. Probably a 4-digit number beginning with "2". Maybe some other digits after. This would be very valuable to me.
Thanks,

I can't find the ID tag you mentioned, there is nothing on the truck anywhere stating the manufacturers details. The fire apparatus was removed by the previous owner in Elmer, he may still have some of the parts as he is a volunteer fireman there. I have a feeling that this is a replacement pump because there is a PTO and mounting brackets where something was attached, possibly the previous pump. photo | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 581 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 581 | Wow, that IS too bad. The tag was probably taken off previously. Thanks for looking, I can follow-up with Elmer. In the mean-time, have a great time with your truck!!! If, by some miracle, I find cheap shipping, I'll let you know asap.

I am currently trying to get a Barton-American pump up and running again (UA-50) that is mounted on a 1958 Chevrolet Viking 60. I am looking for an original manual, details on the hose functions that are connected to the pump (not the fire hose) and also a possible source for the correct Marsh gauges for the truck. I have the intake pressure gauge which is non functioning however the discharge pressure gauge was replaced with a later Span gauge (oil filled) which is incorrect. I do have all of the details on the truck (build plate, etc.) if someone is still interested in that data for archival purposes. Any help appreciated. Regards, Mike
