Does anyone have suggestions on where to find a throttle return spring? Zenith carb. There is an eyelet on the linkage going up to the carb from the block. Looks like the spring attaches down at the base of the block. I also need to know where this spring attaches on the bottom.

There should be a clip that attaches to one of the oil pan bolts. It uses a long thin spring. You might find one at the hardware store or one of the specialty suppliers.

Looks like I'm going to have to source me a spring AND that clip...

Easy to fabricate. I took a small piece of flat steel,drilled two holes in it.I think I had to use a washer so the clip would clear the lip of the oil pan.I got a spring that fit from the hardware store.---Jack

41-53 Accelerator Linkage Return Spring Lower Clip

The clip was not used from 54 and onwards. There was a hole in the side of the bottom pan, or the spring was attached to the water drain/outlet near the rear of the block.

Gusco, I'll go out and take a look at my old 235 I took out of my truck and if there is a clip for the lower spring connection, I'll send it to you.

Tim, I hate to disagree with you, but the '55-'59 did use a clip for the throttle return spring. It is a different design than the one shown in your link, though. Throttle linkage '55-'59.
